MUDDY TRICYCLE. PERE NOGUERA.

Toys can form part of an artistic creation, as in this case. This “muddy tricycle” formed part of the exhibition Història de quan els nens naixien amb pèls a l’aixella (“The story of when kids were born with hair in their armpits”), with works by Pere Noguera and texts by Vicenç Altaió, which was staged in the Museum’s Open Hall in 1983.

The artist Pere Noguera (La Bisbal d’Empordà, 1941) bases his production on the working process understood as the final artistic practice, with deconstruction and fragmentation closely related to arte povera and conceptual art. Between 1979 and 1982 he produced a series of creations with the concept of the material as a process in itself: these are his “mud-caked” works, in which mud-covered objects revealed matter as an event.
