The Hong Kong Family Planning Association is an important non-governmental organisation created in 1950 which works offering information, education and reproductive and sexual health services and advice on responsible paternity/maternity. A study promoted by the Association revealed that the majority of Hong Kong’s children learned about sex through pornography. For this reason, in 1997 they designed this pair of dolls, Kar Kar and Tac Tac, names which in Cantonese mean respectively family and morality. They can be coupled to simulate coitus, and Kar Kar gives birth to babies from her vagina, and in this way they explain the various stages of the reproduction process. The two figures have similar faces so that children will also understand the equality of the sexes.
