PASCAL COMELADE AND HIS TOY INSTRUMENT ORCHESTRA

The pieces of music that form the soundtrack of the visit to the Museum are works by the composer and multi-instrumentalist Pascal Comelade (Montpellier, 1955). In his compositions, almost always instrumental, he uses toy instruments, toys that are not musical but that he uses to make music, and small musical instruments that seem toys. Without forgetting the roots of music, Comelade creates avant-garde sounds that have met with great success among both the critics and the public.

This area displays some of the toy instruments loaned to the Museum by Pascal Comelade which he has used in his concerts along with his Bel Canto Orchestra: pianos, but also mechanical xylophones and other common toys like a drummer doll or a pair of mechanical drumming rabbits activated by a string. These pieces are accompanied by a set of photographs of Comelade playing taken by Jordi Puig.
