THE SALESMAN'S TRINKET SUITCASE
This case holds a pedlar’s wares and constitutes a museum within the Museum. Pedlars used to set up shop in busy areas in towns and cities, such as market places and theatre or church doors, to sell their trinkets and cheap small toys and games that were the delight of small children.
The highlights in this section include the “surprises” - tiny packages that were purchased without knowing what was inside - and the costume accessories such as coloured glasses.
